Germanium isotopes (Ge)
Germanium isotopes are used in medical, industrial and research applications. Stable germanium isotopes can be enriched or depleted by Urenco Stable Isotopes to any concentration, and supplied in various chemical forms.
Naturally occurring germanium has five stable isotopes.
Isotope | Maximum available enrichment (atomic %) | Natural abundance (atomic %) |
---|---|---|
⁷⁰Ge | >99, <1 | 23.20 |
⁷²Ge | >99, <1 | 27.70 |
⁷³Ge | >99, <1 | 7.70 |
⁷⁴Ge | >99, <1 | 35.90 |

Application of Germanium isotopes
Germanium 70 (Ge 70)
Ge-70 can be used for the production of the medical radioisotope Se-73.
Germanium 72 (Ge 72)
Ge-72 is used in the semiconductor industry for the pre-amorphisation implant process. The use of Ge-72 improves this process and reduces contamination. Ge-72 is used for the production of As-72. Ge-72 can be used for the production of the medical radioisotope Se-73.
Germanium 74 (Ge 74)
Ge-74 is used for the production of As-73 and As-74. Ge-74 can be used for the production of the medical radioisotope Se-73.
Germanium 76 (Ge 76)
Ge-76 is used for the production of As-77. Ge-76 is used in double Beta decay research.
