History

History

We have a proud history as a leading nuclear services technology company for 50 years.

1970

Urenco was founded following the signing of the Treaty of Almelo by the governments of Germany, the Netherlands and the UK.

1975

We delivered on our first SWU contract from pilot plant production at Urenco Nederland and Urenco UK.

1977

Our commercial scale demonstration plants at Urenco Nederland and Urenco UK were formally installed.

1985

Our German enrichment facility, Urenco Deutschland, began production and we opened our US marketing office.

1991

The production of stable isotopes for medical, research and industrial applications started at Urenco Nederland.

2010

We began production at our US enrichment facility, UUSA. To date, it is the only commercial enrichment facility in the USA.

2012

Urenco Nuclear Stewardship, responsible for the management of nuclear materials, decommissioning and recycling, began operations.

2019

We opened our Tails Management Facility, responsible for deconverting the by-product of our enrichment services for long-term storage.
