Our contribution
Urenco is taking the vital steps needed to improve nuclear sector circularity, including reducing site hazards. Urenco Metals Recycling (UMR) facility project is based at Urenco Nuclear Stewardship in the UK and is planned to begin operation in 2024, providing a wide range of metallic treatment services for recycling and disposal. Urenco Nuclear Stewardship is responsible for the management of nuclear materials, decommissioning and recycling. In 2020, it successfully secured a contract to manage, treat and dispose of metallic waste from the UK's nuclear facilities till 2024. In addition, our Tails Management Facility enables the reuse of hydrofluoric acid within industrial processes, reducing the need for new resources to be extracted.
