We’re looking for a Senior Construction Supervisor, who will be based at our Gronau site. You’ll report to the Project Construction Manager and be responsible for assisting in the management, supervision and development of Construction Team. You will also interface externally with construction contractors etc.

What you’ll do:
• Stakeholder management with project team and supply team to ensure all construction activities are planned, managed and monitored.
• Ensuring a consistently high standard of work is produced in accordance with specification and quality standards through regular quality inspections with sub-contractors.
• Direct and supervise day to day operations of Contractors and Sub-contractors ensuring compliance with the Urenco Safe Systems of Works (SSOW) procedures.
• Prepare and manage SSOW, e.g. permit to work, hot-work permit, confined space permit in accordance with the Urenco SSOW, act as Permit Issuer (PI) and where required Area Authority (AA), having completed the required level of training, certification and appointment.
• Complete Contract Supervisor (CS) training to facilitate CS appointment, which enable the role holder to be responsible for Contractors Security Clearance, chair inaugural meetings and be fully responsible for the Contractors under their control.
• Ensure Contractors RAMS are submitted, reviewed and accepted in accordance with company procedures.
• Coordinate safety case inspection, self-verification process.
• Manage material requisitions to ensure materials are in accordance with relevant quality grading, required specification and obtained in accordance with the project schedule.
• Ensure all Contractors and members of the working party have completed all relevant Urenco Site Inductions and SSOW training prior to being set to work.
• Ensure work activities are planned in accordance with the project schedule, escalate delay, provide recommendations for schedule recovery and maintain suitable and sufficient site records to assist in project dispute resolution. (UUK Specific- Utilising the UUK E-9 week planning process to ensure works are scheduled, planned and communicated a minimum of 9 weeks in advance if works commencing).
• Participate and where applicable chair project progress meetings, assisting the Project Managers as required.
• Schedule, control and monitor all plant and materials on a weekly basis ensuring tickets / inspections are in date.
• Fulfil the role of Temporary Works Supervisor, providing information to the Contractor and Urenco Temporary Works Coordinator(s) as required.
• Liaise with Contracts Manager, Project Manager, Project Engineer, regarding but not limited to cost control, waste management, variations, safety, quality and confirmation of instructions.
• Responsible for conducting safety inspections, pre-job briefs, site audits and fulfilling all aspects of the Principal Contractors health, safety and welfare responsibilities.
• Maintain quality and environmental control procedures in accordance with ISO 9001and ISO 14001 and production of supporting company documentation, assisting in inspections and audits. Reviewing and implementing Inspection and Test Plans (ITP’s) in accordance the project and company procedures.
• Create and maintain good relations with all project stakeholders including but not limited to clients, designs, external departments and local community.
• Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of own activities related to projects to enable traceability. Participating in Learning From Experience meetings during project close out to aid in continuous improvement.
• Control and monitor site waste in accordance with the Urenco Site Waste Minimisation and Management policy.
• Continually develop knowledge of innovative construction, maintenance and decommissioning techniques and products to enhance the business.
• Contribute to the Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.
• Identify technical problems on site, to recommend corrective action and issue directions as authorised under the Contract.
• Witness on site testing & commissioning and keep appropriate records of results, where applicable the role holder is also expected to undertake the duties of the Project Testing & Handover Teams on their behalf.
• Prepare schedules of defects and certify rectification of snagging items.
• Work with colleagues and managers to revise, update and/or develop working procedures.
• Have a good knowledge and understanding of the Urenco contracting and delivery strategy, with a strong focus on the procurement strategy plans to ensure commercial event are captured in line with the contractual deliverables.
• Where applicable the role holder will be responsible for Radiological Protection Supervisor duties to ensure compliance with the Ionising Radiation Regulations.
• Undertake Boot Barrier awareness training, where applicable, to relevant Personnel.
• Record all events on the Urenco ReAct reporting system to improve the company’s ability to learn and improve.
• Carry out hazard observations and SUSA reports, provide recommendations, ensure actions are complete, lessons are learnt and recorded at enable continuous improvement.
What do you need to thrive in this role?
• Ensure that the Principal Contractor duties on the project(s) are discharged.
• Actively promote a pro-active safety culture and be a role model, throughout the project lifecycle and across the Capenhurst site and wider Urenco Group
• Work in conjunction with the Construction Manager and project delivery teams to ensure that all engineering works meet the HSSE requirements of the contract and act as area authority within SSoW requirements
• Drive improvements in project delivery through applying good practice constructability into project front end loading. This includes but is not limited to activities such as inspections, measure quality of contractor performance
• Control and issue of accurate and concise general work permits and associated certificates to ensure that work is properly authorised and interfaces/isolations are managed
• Ability to manage and proactively influence construction teams, ensuring team members work collaboratively, remain motivated, competent and cooperative

• Work in conjunction with the Construction Manager and project delivery teams to ensure that all engineering works meet the quality requirements of the contract
• Assist in the delivery of engineering/design scope to meet project safety, cost, schedule integration of industry standard construction practices to achieve project and business objectives
• Assist in the coordination and evaluation of technical quiries, design changes, specifications and drawing releases
• Work in conjunction with the project team to ensure that engineering and construction activities are prepared and planned in advance to meet the plan and budget requirements
