We’re looking for a Maintenance Planner with a background in electrical/controls & instrumentation engineering, to be based at Capenhurst location. The role requires the individual to be on site and as part of an established team, you will be responsible for the safe and effective planning of all plant maintenance tasks. The primary responsibility is to produce Written Schemes of Maintenance that define a safe and efficient methodology for all maintenance tasks, this includes day-to-day routines, break down maintenance and major shutdown events. There will be a significant amount of interaction required between various departments within UCP and sitewide.
The engineering team provides the full range of mechanical, electrical and instrument support for UCP’s UF6 deconversion facility. The team also provides day to day asset management, shutdown management, project delivery and technical expertise. The team operate in a highly regulated environment which is controlled by strict quality, safety and environmental standards.

What you’ll do:
• Routine use of SAP, Microsoft Office and Documentum.
• Interface with third party web based data systems.
• Managing peak workloads during shutdown periods.
• Solving difficult technical issues in relation to work execution / contamination control
• Understand and demonstrate compliance with the various nuclear site licence conditions and national regulations and external organisations who govern the standards.
• Carry out site visits to determine job scope, appropriate method, timescale and resource requirements
• Produce thorough Task Risk Assessments and Method Statements to ensure safe and effective maintenance execution
• Ensure validity of all maintenance tasks e.g. correct job sequence, manning levels, timescales etc. – Perform Audits of task execution to validate and update plans.
• Ensure the defined written schemes contain all of the information necessary for the Materials Coordinators to source all materials, Resource Coordinators to schedule requirements effectively and Maintenance Technicians to execute the task efficiently. Plant Labelling utilised / updated to ensure clarity and accuracy.
• Ensure all other requirements such as scaffolds or cranes / specialist tooling are defined with regard to sizing and specification and any elements not available are flagged and driven through procurement.
• Search and analyse the Schedule and Maintenance Plans within CMMS system.
• All planning requirements in place before routine due dates with adequate contingency – no overdue Work Orders.
What do you need to thrive in this role?
• Time-served mechanical or CEI technician with hands on experience in a chemical / process plant. Familiarity with the maintenance of typical process equipment (pumps, valves, vessels, piping systems, instrument and control systems).
• Experience of planning maintenance activities using a CMMS / EAM package (preferably SAP with Prometheus)
• Knowledge of scheduling maintenance tasks / projects in a Gantt chart format / CMMS
• Proficient in Risk Assessment methodology and in writing work instructions / job plans.
• Highly IT literate in programmes including MS Office, EAM / CMMS packages such as SAP / Maximo, and scheduling software such as Primavera / MS Project.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to write clear and concise instructions.
• Sound knowledge and understanding of relevant health, safety and environmental regulatory requirements.
• A high attention to detail is essential for this role.
• Basic knowledge of continuous improvement systems and tools.
• Basic knowledge of contamination control / security systems and procedures would be beneficial.
