Being considered an employer of choice
URENCO wants to be recognised as an employer of choice, offering an inspiring and fulfilling working environment for all our employees.
Our people are one of our core strategic strengths – their skills and expertise are valuable assets to our business. We are proud to have an immensely capable and engaged workforce and we strive to inspire and challenge our employees, to manage their performance effectively and fairly and to recognise their achievements.
Working for URENCO
A happy and well engaged workforce is very important to our business. We focus on bringing new talent into our business through our apprenticeship schemes and graduate placement opportunities, in order to attract the best candidates to our industry.
Every two years, we run a Group-wide employee survey to independently monitor employee satisfaction, commitment and engagement. We share the survey results with all employees and take responsibility for implementing iniatives to strengthen our position as an employer of choice.
Supporting our local communities
URENCO is active in the communities in which we operate. Our volunteering policy encourages employees to volunteer in local community projects scheduled throughout the year. Employees benefit from the opportunity to develop their communication and leadership skills, as well as having a positive impact on the local community.
We invest a great deal in developing the skills and potential of our people. We need the best people operating at the best of their abilities to ensure continual excellence in business performance and customer service.
We run leadership development training programmes across URENCO, designed to develop leadership skills and capabilities. These programmes enable employees to further develop their management and leadership skills.
Nurturing new talent
To encourage young people to enter our industry, we support science and education initiatives in our local communities and are also closely involved with universities and international science education programmes.
Through our Richie programme, URENCO aims to nurture the next generation of scientists and engineers, by encouraging young people to pursue a career in a Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) subject.
URENCO hosts global science workshops, which bring the science that supports our operations alive through a series of practical experiments.
We also have a partnership with the British Science Association, which has enabled us to create an independent learning resource as part of their CREST awards scheme.
URENCO also hosts an annual Richie Lecture each year, for students about to make their GCSE choices, to raise awareness and develop an interest in subjects such as energy and climate change.
