Urenco USA Selected for LEU Enrichment Award by U.S. Department of Energy

Eunice, NM – (December 11, 2024) – Urenco USA has been selected for an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity contract for a 10-year period to provide enrichment services for the production of Low-Enriched Uranium (LEU) from new domestic capacity in support of the mission of the Office of Nuclear Energy of the U.S. Department of Energy. LEU is uranium enriched up to 5% and supports the operation of the existing fleet of nuclear reactors.
Urenco USA currently has the capacity to meet approximately one-third of the enrichment needs of U.S. utilities and is expanding to meet additional commercial demand. Last year we announced our capacity at UUSA was increasing by 15%, with an intention to further expand subject to market demand, and we recently celebrated the installation of the first centrifuges under this project.
