Urenco welcomes outcome of US investigation into uranium imports

16 July 2019

As an international supplier of uranium enrichment services and fuel cycle products, Urenco welcomes the decision by the President of the United States regarding the Section 232 investigation into uranium imports into the US.

Urenco’s New Mexico facility, UUSA, operated by Louisiana Energy Services, is the only domestic supplier of enrichment services in the US. We will continue to demonstrate that our involvement in the US uranium market is in the best interests of our customers to ensure reliable, transparent and timely supply of nuclear fuel to US reactors.

A Section 232 investigation is conducted under the authority of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962 and its purpose is to determine the effect of imports on US national security. The petition was filed in January 2018.
