Urenco supply partners show signs of improving environmental performance

03 March 2025 Global News

Recent results via EcoVadis show that Urenco and its key delivery partners are scoring well against sustainability metrics, with significantly higher ratings than many industry benchmarks.

Recent results from the on-going assessment of its supply chain via EcoVadis show that Urenco and its key delivery partners are scoring well against sustainability metrics, with significantly higher ratings than many industry benchmarks.

EcoVadis rates suppliers based on environmental impact, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement as well as carbon emissions. Urenco is working with its delivery partners and supply chain in using the EcoVadis rating system to help it measure progress towards meeting its Scope 3* emissions and wider sustainability goals.

Now two and half years into using the EcoVadis system, with some delivery partners undertaking reassessment, significant improvements are being noted under areas such as environmental stewardship, ethical standards, labour and human rights. During the year 2024 Urenco delivery partners delivered over 500 improvements in ethical practices, human rights and environmental areas.

Of the delivery partners rated for carbon management, 62% have achieved Intermediate to Leader levels on the EcoVadis carbon scale.

Tony Roberts, Head of Procurement said, “This achievement underscores our delivery partners growing commitment to decarbonisation and climate action.

Our collective efforts  are essential for reducing risks, enhancing resilience, and building a more transparent and responsible supply chain. These achievements reflect both the dedication of our suppliers and the positive impact of our partnership with EcoVadis.

We will continue to support and challenge our partners to achieve higher sustainability standards. Our goals for 2025 include expanding  engagement, driving continuous improvement, and fostering sustainable procurement practices through collaborative supplier corrective action management across all aspects of Environmental Sustainability Governance (ESG).”

Rob Little, Head of Sustainability said, “These excellent results give us confidence that we are taking the right actions to build a more sustainable supply chain and engage on broader sustainability topics which aligns with our new sustainability strategy”

*Scope 3 refers to carbon emissions are all indirect emissions that occur in Urenco’s value chain, including both upstream and downstream emissions. Urenco has set targets to achieve a 90% reduction in Scope 1 (direct) and Scope 2 (indirect) emissions by 2030 and a 30% reduction in Scope 3 (supply chain) emissions by the same year.
