Urenco supports 10,000 Black Interns Programme

01 October 2021

Today, 1 October, marks the start of Black History Month in the UK, a time to reflect on the past and to look to the future and build on the campaign for equality.

This is why Urenco is joining over 700 other companies this year in supporting the 10,000 Black Interns Programme. The internships aim to transform the horizons and prospects of young Black people in the UK by offering paid work experience across a wide range of industries, as well as world-class training and development.

Urenco is offering at least one internship within the UK Communications Team that will provide a wealth of knowledge and hands on communications experience in the sustainable energy sector. This opportunity will hone the intern’s communications skills and offer insights into the industry of nuclear power.

Sarah Howe, Urenco’s Culture, Diversity & Inclusion Global Programme Director, said:
“One of our key aims at Urenco is to constantly challenge the status quo and develop new ways to improve the proportion of underrepresented groups, while continuing to select solely on merit, to create a diverse, representative workforce at all levels. We hope that by being involved with the 10,000 Black Interns Programme we can help to improve the prospects of young Black people at the same time as diversifying our workforce.”
