Read our latest reportUrenco has published its fourth Gender Pay Gap Report for all of its UK employees*.
Gender pay gap is the difference between the mean and median earnings of men and women as a percentage of men’s earnings. This is different to equal pay, which is the principle that men and women should receive the same pay for carrying out the same jobs, similar jobs or work of equal value.
The report shows that for all UK-based employees, the mean hourly pay gap decreased by 1% (from 18.6% in 2019 to 17.6% in 2020) and the median hourly pay gap decreased by 2.9% (from 15.4% in 2019 to 12.5% in 2020). These positive trends are linked to changes in gender distribution in Urenco’s workforce. Namely, out of all employees that moved to higher pay quartiles during the last year, 40% were female (14% higher than the proportion of women in the general workforce).
Sarah Howe, Culture, Diversity & Inclusion Programme Director, comments:
“Urenco has laid some solid foundations in its commitment to becoming a more diverse and inclusive organisation. We are extending our diversity and inclusion (D&I) programme and embedding it into our business strategy to ensure we can accelerate our progress in all areas of D&I, including closing the gender pay gap and ensuring equal pay.
“Our goals will succeed only if we transform our behaviours and mindsets, which is why our D&I programme is now integrated into our culture programme (find out more about our culture programme in our 2020 Annual Report). As part of this, we are developing more ambitious metrics and a new strategy for 2021-2025.”
The full gender pay gap report is available here.
*Gender pay gap reporting is a legal requirement from the UK Government for all employers in the UK with more than 250 employees. Currently Urenco UK is the only UK entity to meet the government’s criteria however Urenco has chosen to show the same data for all UK-based employees.
