URENCO operates in a pivotal area of the nuclear fuel supply chain which ends with the sustainable generation of electricity for consumers around the world. The supply chain itself can be subdivided into four key processes: mining; conversion; enrichment; and fabrication.
URENCO uses leading centrifuge technology to provide the uranium enrichment services our customers need to generate low carbon nuclear energy.
URENCO’s Vision and mission, combined with the work of URENCO’s employees and our core Values, ensures that the nuclear industry has reliable, affordable provision of fuel to meet future demand.
URENCO’s Vision states:
“We believe the world needs nuclear energy to meet the demands of sustainable global energy. We can help the transition to a low carbon economy through the deployment of our enrichment services and technology.”
The URENCO Xperience is a virtual tour of our enrichment facilities that provides an insight into our everyday operations and an understanding of how the uranium enrichment process works.

URENCO operates plants in Germany, the Netherlands, the UK and the US, using URENCO's world-leading centrifuge technology to enrich uranium for the use as a nuclear fuel for civil power generation. URENCO's focus is on providing safe, cost effective and reliable
uranium enrichment services within a framework of environmental, social and corporate responsibility. Our goal is to further increase worldwide market share and to become the leading supplier in the extended global enrichment market.
History and wider governance issues
URENCO was established in 1971 following the entering into force of the Treaty of Almelo signed by the governments of Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom and was incorporated as an English private limited liability company on 31 August 1971.
The Treaty of Almelo establishes the fundamental principles for effective supervision of URENCO’s technology, centrifuge manufacturing and URENCO’s enrichment operations.
