In 2014, URENCO developed a partnership with the British Science Association (BSA) to encourage young people to engage with STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) subjects through their CREST initiative, an award scheme recognising success in STEM project work. The partnership complements URENCO’s Richie programme which is committed to nurturing an interest in STEM subjects and producing the next generation of engineers and scientists.
By working together, URENCO and the BSA have developed a Richie inspired programme of CREST classroom materials. The CREST Star (aimed at 7-11 year olds) and Discovery Award (aimed at 11-14 year olds) activities aim to inspire students to study STEM and provide further insight into the principles behind nuclear energy.

To maximise the success of our educational resources, plans are in place to roll out Enrich my Classroom on an international basis. A pilot scheme is scheduled to be delivered in the Netherlands in 2018.
